Classic Car Radio Repair
Our super-equipped repair shop
At Classic Car Radio Repair, you can trust our work - my signature literally means it is safe to
fly!  Professional Avionics Technician by day, my work is under the very strict scrutiny
of FAA standards and those of ISO 9001, Department of Transportation and the Aerospace
Industry.  Put simply, my work MUST be of the absolute highest quality, meet the most exact
specifications, and withstand the intense demands of extreme temperatures and high altitudes.

Pictured above is our larger bench, with four separate fully-equipped workstations.  There
is a high quality Oscilloscope at each station, along with AM-FM Signal Generators, Power
Supplies, Stereo Analyzers, Frequency Counters, Tube and Transistor Testers, etc.  This
"always prepared, everywhere" approach enables us to work on several jobs without the
hassle of putting one item back together and throwing it in the corner to work on another
while the first one is "burning in" or waiting for parts to arrive.
Here is my other bench, with two workstations featuring more precision test equipment, more
analyzers, a Tektronix 4 channel 350 MHz Oscilloscope, HP Distortion Analyzer - basically,
everything needed to perform absolute top notch, factory quality repair and alignment on
virtually any broadcast band radio or tape recording machine ever manufactured.  I work
at this bench for particularly critical jobs, where I can also watch TV and talk to the wife.
A few notes on my background and resources:
Well, let's see.  I started my first electronics repair business at age13.  Worked as tester and
technician at SLM Electronics in St, Louis, Mo. (manufacturer of Crate, Ampeg and Audio
Centron guitar amps and PA equipment).  Bench technician at Pacesetter Electronics - maker
or radio equipment for 3M, Muzak and the Illinois Farm Bureau.  Played, wrote and recorded
music professionally before moving to Arizona in 2003.  And now very much enjoy my new day
job at a licensed FAA repair station, repairing high-end Avionics equipment such as ADF
(Automatic Direction Finder), DME (Distance Measuring Equipment), KDA (King Data Adaptor),
RMU (Radio Management Unit), Auto Pilot and Synthesized Vision - with no end in sight to
the many new challenges and learning opportunities.  By the time I was working there 9 months,
I led the department of 12 technicians in overall performance (especially quantity of repairs
completed), and continue to do so.  Here are a few of the benches I work at during the day:

My resources...
I've been collecting books, schematics, service manuals and parts connections since I first
started playing with electronic stuff.  I currently have the COMPLETE sets of Sam's Auto
Radio and Tape Recorder Series manuals.  The Auto Radio series covers every radio
installed in every car from the late 40's to 1985, with the Tape Recorder Series covering
almost every 8 track, cassette and reel to reel machine made for home use.  In addition,
I purchase the full set of schematics and service information for every unit I run into if I
don't have it already.  I guess I don't need to mention that I also more than 400 books
on every subject of electronics imaginable.  Electronics is my living - and my intense passion.
Please bear in mind that I have spent a tremendous amount of time,
effort and money to enable me to perform this level of quality work.
I regret to say I am not the least bit generous with my parts, advice
or service literature.
I DON'T SELL PARTS, PERIOD.

If you need a schematic or other piece of technical information on
a particular unit (or even general repair advice), please do not ask
me to give this information out free - there will be a reasonable fee
for anything that takes me away from my paid duties at the bench.
