Classic Car Radio Repair
Work Order with Our Terms and Conditions
1.  We are not responsible for loss or damage to COSMETIC items.  Please remove any decorative cowls, bezels,
escutcheons and ALL KNOBS.  These items are not needed to test and repair the unit, and can only become
broken in transit, lost or misplaced.  Leave only the front panel (with the tuning dial), top and bottom covers.
Please also remove any ground straps and mounting brackets.  If unapproved COSMETIC items are sent:

A.  We cannot offer a discount on the restoration to compensate for disappointment over broken items,
B.  We will not assist on an insurance damage claim for items we are asking not to send,
C.  For the protection of your cosmetics, they will be shipped back in a separate box
at customer's expense.
D.  Please leave the unit's front panel, top and bottom covers attached - but remove any large plastic pieces.
E.  MOPAR THUMBWHEEL UNITS DO NOT REQUIRE REMOVAL OF KNOBS OR FRONT PANEL.
F.  If having a unit sent directly to us from an eBay seller, please have them send cosmetics directly to you -
our policy of not accepting cosmetics applies in ALL situations.

2.  After paying for a restoration, the customer is given a "target" ship date.  THIS DATE IS AN
ESTIMATE, NOT
A PROMISE DATE.  Due to parts availability issues and demands of our workload, some jobs can take
much longer.  For this reason, WE REQUIRE UP TO 90 DAYS before the customer demands a resolution.
WE WILL CONTACT YOU WHEN YOUR UNIT IS READY TO SHIP.  PLEASE, NO CALLS FOR STATUS UNTIL
8 WEEKS HAVE PASSED FROM THE TIME YOU PAID FOR THE JOB.
NO "HOW'S IT COMING" E-MAILS !!!

WE WON'T EVEN GET TO YOUR UNIT UNTIL VERY SHORTLY BEFORE THE TARGET SHIP DATE

3.  We are unable to work according to deadlines (car shows, etc.)  We keep the unit until we are convinced that
it will be a reliable machine for years to come.  To place a 1 year warranty on a decades-old unit is quite a feat!
We do it, but require the necessary UNPRESSURED time to do so.  Please, just kindly wait for top quality.

4.  WARRANTY RETURNS ABSOLUTELY
MUST BE PACKED THE SAME WAY YOU RECEIVED IT - WITH THE
PROTECTIVE CARDBOARD SLEEVE.  IF A WARRANTY RETURN ARRIVES CARELESSLY PACKED AND
HAS A BENT OR BROKEN CONTROL SHAFT,
ALL WARRANTIES ARE COMPLETELY VOID AND WE WILL
NOT ISSUE ANY TYPE OF REFUND
.  We will not pay for a customer's carelessness of packing in any way.

5.  Our flat rates never include repair or replacement of broken or internally damaged controls, a new tape head,
audio driver or output transformers, integrated circuits or troubleshooting of RADIO circuits requiring the
schematic and use of RF test equipment.  Our basic restoration focuses primarily on the 8 track section and
assumes the typical cycle of normal use followed by decades of neglect, with expected
minor radio work.

6.  A unit malfunctioning upon installation must be returned for warranty service.  Due to the amount of work
and parts used, we cannot issue any refunds until we have retrieved our parts and returned the unit to its
former condition.  We will not pay another shop to service your unit, and opening unit voids all warranties.
In most cases, warranty returns work properly and were incorrectly wired - or the belt slipped off the pulley.

7.  We pay the shipping cost to return your newly repaired unit.  Customer pays ALL future shipping expenses.
IF A UNIT IS RETURNED AND NO FAULT IS FOUND, THERE WILL BE A $30 BENCH FEE
PLUS RETURN
SHIPPING COST, AS WELL AS A STRONG RECOMMENDATION TO USE A MORE COMPETENT INSTALLER.

8.  Our rates do not include teaching electronics or vintage car radio hookup to the installer.  This is EASY STUFF
to anyone with even a slight background in analog electronics.  The wiring color codes for your actual unit
will be included.  If the installer needs any more guidance than that contained, HE IS NOT QUALIFIED and
can very possibly cause permanent damage which is NOT covered by warranty.  WE WILL NOT ATTEMPT
TO GUIDE YOUR TECHNICIAN OVER THE PHONE - IF HE CAN'T DO IT, YOU MUST FIND SOMEONE WHO
IS MORE FAMILIAR AND EXPERIENCED WITH VINTAGE STEREO EQUIPMENT.

9.  Boxes and packing materials are discarded upon arrival.  Please don't use anything you might want back.

10.  Ensuring that a given unit is correct for the car is the CUSTOMER'S responsibility.  In the Work Order below,
questions are provided to prevent incorrect hookup and resultant damage.  NOTE:  Even though the
connector fits your car exactly, damage can result if the unit was not made for that specific year car.

11.  Due to the number of units that are wired incorrectly, there is never a warranty on the output section - even
if we have serviced it.  Video footage is taken of every unit operating properly before shipment to ensure
that a thorough and competent job was performed.   If having your unit converted using the FMR-1 module,
the output section IS guaranteed for 1 full year.

12.  Our 1 year warranty covers WORK PERFORMED ONLY as listed on the customer's receipt.  Please bear in
mind that we are 8 track specialists, and that the radio section will seldom be covered unless work in these
circuits (besides capacitor replacement) is listed on the receipt.  In the case of a full FM conversion using the
Aurora FMR-1 module, the ENTIRE UNIT is covered by our 1 year warranty except original controls and tuner.

13.  In warranty cases, the customer must supply a parts unit
if a part is available only from a similar model.   If
customers wants the parts unit returned, we do not cover the shipping cost - it must be paid by customer.

14.  In some cases due to parts availability, we cannot repair some of the minor functions such as the FM Stereo
lamp (even though the radio is receiving true stereo sound), speaker balance being slightly off, etc.  In the
case of a defective front-rear fader, we are forced to rewire the unit for equal volume from all 4 speakers.
TO REPLACE A DAMAGED CONTROL, CUSTOMER MUST SUPPLY A PARTS UNIT.

15.  If a discount has been awarded on a job, customer must pay the difference if unit is returned for warranty.

16.  We do not address issues with RECORDING; it is cheaper for you to purchase a different unit instead.

17.  Digital readouts can fail at any time for no apparent reason except age.  As parts for early digital readouts
are not available, digital readouts are never covered by warranty - and could render your unit completely
inoperable after you've paid to have it restored.  If a readout fails while in our shop, we cannot be held
responsible.

18.  In cases where a unit is taking much longer than expected and the customer demands a refund, we require
UP TO THIRTY CALENDAR DAYS to issue a full refund.  All refunds, minus return shipping costs, are issued
in the form of a postal money order and will be enclosed with your returned unit.

19.  Our prices do not include the cost of shipping back a customer's parts unit.  This must be paid by the
customer.  We cannot offer a discount in exchange for the rest of your parts unit if you decide to leave it.

20.  Our policy for issuing refunds is as follows:  Refunds are issued ONLY if failure occurs in a section serviced
by us, cannot be repaired or would be prohibitively expensive to repair.  Additionally, a refund will be issued
ONLY if a spare parts unit cannot be found.  If a parts unit is needed, customer must purchase the parts unit
and bear the cost of shipping to send it to our shop.  Return shipping costs apply if customer wants the
parts unit back.   In short, we do not absorb ANY extra costs or give away ANYTHING for free.

21.  Regardless of work performed, these items are NEVER under warranty:  Controls, output transformers,
anything in the radio circuits (unless work was performed in this area), playback head (unless replaced),
perfect speaker balance throughout the full range of the volume control, tuner assemblies, tuner clutch
linkage or track change solenoids.   These components fail either from age, heat produced during
operation, neglect or improper hookup - all conditions for which we cannot be held responsible.

22.  We are unable to respond to text messages.  Please use phone or E-mail
always.
Regardless of urgency or importance to the customer, ALL TEXT MESSAGES WILL BE IGNORED.

23.  Our responsibility ends (except for warranty issues) when we have proof of shipping and tracking
number.  We are not liable for items or packages lost or damaged by the carrier.

24.  There will be NO FREE WARRANTY WORK when the customer pressures us to ship a unit before our
announced turn time has elapsed.  There are reasons for our turn times, and an absolute minimum fee of
$49 PLUS return shipping will apply if unit fails after we were pressured to ship it back early.

25.  ABANDONED UNITS:  If customer decides not to have work performed (such as on a unit damaged due to
careless packing resulting in higher repair cost) customer must at least call and pay shipping cost PLUS a
handling fee of $20 for the unit's return.  If this is not paid within 30 days, CUSTOMER RELENQUISHES
OWNERSHIP and unit may then be used for parts, repaired and sold for profit or otherwise added to our assets.
CUSTOMER IS NOT ENTITLED TO ANY MONIES RESULTING FROM AN ABANDONED UNIT.

26.  Paying for the job is what places it in line for service.  As our system is designed for maximum efficiency to
keep prices reasonable and workflow manageable, units may not sit idle in our shop.  Thus, any job not paid
within 3 CALENDAR DAYS of our effort to contact the customer for payment may be sent back unrepaired, and
we reserve the right to refuse any future business from that customer.

27.  Some failures do not appear until a repaired unit has been in operation for several hours such as noisy tape
heads, leaky output transformers, etc.   Customer should keep this in mind, and must be prepared to pay a
maximum additional charge of $49 in
VERY RARE cases.  In this case, the defective part will be sent with the unit.

28.   To repeat an earlier statement:  WE CANNOT CONSIDER UPCOMING CAR SHOWS as the basis for our turn
times or ship dates.  This is determined by our current workload, difficulty of repairs and our dedication to LONG
TERM RELIABILITY.  Regardless of urgency, NO JOB LEAVES OUR SHOP UNTIL IT IS CONSIDERED RELIABLE.

______  Aurora Conversion (AM-FM-MP3, 45 watts per speaker for up to 4 speakers)    $475.00

______  Aurora Conversion with USB   $575.00

______  Aurora Conversion with Bluetooth  $595.00

______  Aurora Conversion with USB and Bluetooth  $645.00

______  Unit is a combination radio/8 track - add $49 to option(s) chosen above

PLEASE NOTE: The Aurora conversion normally requires all new speaker wiring, with 2 separate wires for
each speaker as it cannot be used with a common-ground or common negative speaker system.  Your original
connectors will be removed, and your converted unit must be hard-wired to the speaker system.  However, we
can install the conversion using the original connectors so that your unit simply plugs back in.  This option
results in slightly reduced audio power output, but is still much more powerful than the original unit.  Due to
the increased amount of labor and additional parts required, we must charge an additional fee for this option.

Using your original connectors leaves ZERO evidence that the unit has been modified - best for car shows!

______  Use original connectors - add $49

IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO REPLACE YOUR SPEAKERS TO SAFELY HANDLE AT LEAST 50 WATTS RMS,
OR 100 WATTS "PEAK" POWER PER SPEAKER.  For best sound, coaxial or triaxial speakers are best.  If you are
competing in car shows, covering the speakers with black felt will hide the midrange speakers and tweeters and
maintain the original appearance.
